Essex Chamber of Commerce – Health & Wellbeing in the workplace
Health & Wellbeing
in the workplace
A new breed of smart and forward thinking employers understand how your wellbeing makes them a more successful organisation..
Picture this:
You wake up, organise the kids, feed the cat, and embark on probably the most frustrating part of your day, battling the traffic and ridiculous road works to achieve your absolute minimum of personal goals: arriving to work on time.
You make your coffee (you need it) and prioritise your workload and professional goals for the day, the week, the month and the year ahead.
Your boss needs to talk to you, ‘please sit down’. How do you feel?
Warm and glowing? Or nervous?
Your boss has created a support system for you, with a focus on health and wellbeing..
You’re confused. Is there some new legislation you’ve missed?
Your boss wants you to spend some time thinking about your own personal health and wellbeing. Your boss wants to help you to understand your own needs, whether you would focus on either relaxation; improvements in your nutritional balance; planned exercise; weight loss; muscle toning or increase in general fitness.. your boss is arranging to provide you with an on-line personal trainer.
How do you feel?
Warm and glowing? Or nervous?
Don’t panic! This is how the new breed of employers is becoming canny and looking after their employees. They are realising that focusing on looking after you, means you are happier and more productive at work, and off-sick less often.
Crafty, but perceptive. How do you feel?
Warm and glowing? Or nervous?
The former.
