Let a Life Coach be your compass and help guide you back on track and to your destination
Have you got to the point when you’ve had enough of feeling disappointed, low and unhappy with how your life is going? You can’t see the wood for the trees? Or maybe you feel you can’t be heard in this loud world of ours and life is passing you by? Frustration may have kicked in and you feel angry, as though you are screaming on the inside and no-one is listening?
Well maybe the time has come to make those changes and improve your quality of life. You have accepted that things need to change, you’re just unsure how? Well this is where a Life Coach comes in, someone who can help you discover those missing links and put you on track to your improved life.
Which area of your life would you like to change in the “Wheel of Life”?
The Wheel of Life is a simple exercise which many personal Life Coaches use. It makes you focus on your life as it is now and helps to identify which areas are weaker than others. You are asked to assess (in this case 7) areas of your life and mark each one on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being excellent and 1 bad. These are marked on your personal Wheel of Life to give a visual representation about your life, and a quick reference to what needs to change to help you move forward. The rounder your wheel is, the better it will go round and the smoother life will be. This wheel provides an ideal visual representation of this.
Still unsure how a Life Coach can help? Well try this simple exercise:- Spend a few minutes alone and imagine your life as you want it to be and write it down. Next, look at your life as it is now and again write it down. Look at the two scenarios and gauge the “distance” between them. You have now taken the first step of the life coaching “ladder” – sounding good so far? You can see where we are heading? Good. Now we need to set realistic goals from this “real” world to this “dream” world. This is where a Life Coach comes into play; using their training and skills they are able to breach this gulf with you.
Life Coaching has become one of the fastest growing areas for the “therapist” scene and it can provide outstanding results. It draws on a number of disciplines including psychology, NLP (Neoro-Linguistic Programming), counselling and sports coaching. Unlike other therapies, your fee does not cover the one appointment: it works typically over a three month period and sessions can be carried out face to face, over the phone, via the internet or via mail, although the first two are normally preferable. A Life Coach would normally sit down with you for up to two hours to discuss the programme and set a few initial targets, and then at an agreed time contact you via your chosen method of communication. Ongoing contact helps clients stay focused and change happens quicker.
So if you feel your life is not as it should be and you need a change of direction – make that first move in the right direction by contacting a Life Coach.
