Southend YMCA have introduced two new initiatives as a means to further its current provision. Both these initiatives will provide businesses with new opportunities to support their local community.
The leading children and young people’s charity in Southend has set up new funding streams to support the work it delivers to 11-25 year olds by starting the ‘Friends of Southend YMCA’ & ‘Southend YMCA 100 Club’ schemes. Friends of Southend YMCA is being introduced to develop monthly donations and standing orders as a means of more frequent donations and the 100 Club is a one-off initiative to raise funds to progress their existing housing provision.
The charity, which works with some of the most vulnerable, neglected & disadvantaged individuals in Essex are heavily reliant on third-party funding with most projects not being able to run otherwise. Organisations such as the Big Lottery Fund and Youth in Action give financial support to ensure they continue to deliver their invaluable work but this is not always possible.
Southend YMCA currently provides supported housing, education & training, volunteering, young entrepreneurs business support, positive activities and community projects such as The Prince’s Trust.
