The SDAA – Southend, Castle Point and Rochford Dementia Action Alliance – works hard to improve dementia support in the area. The regular newsletters highlight some of the achievements and activities during the relevant period.

1. Dementia is, of course, everybody’s businesses – including our political representatives. A date has been set for all Essex MP’s to receive a Dementia Friends session within Westminster. In due course, it is hoped local councillors, county councillors and Mayors will also get involved.
2. Crowstone Dental Surgery in Southend is the first dental practice to be awarded Dementia Friendly accreditation.
3. There are now 14 Dementia Friendly GP surgeries across Southend, Castle Point and Rochford with another 6 working towards accreditation.
4. A Dementia Friendly Care Home Toolkit has been rolled out within Southend, CastlPoint and Rochfird via Dementia Navigators
