Proposed exercise referral courses in Southend
Southend Borough Council is developing a range of exercise referral courses and would like your feedback and suggestions by 20th January so that approved courses can be implemented and delivery can begin as soon as possible.
Below is an overview of the proposed exercise referral programme, to be delivered at the leisure centres in Southend. If you are a resident or provide services in Southend, please read through the following and respond as requested at the end.
Who the Programme is for?
This programme is for adults who are inactive (participating in less than 30 minutes of physical activity per week) and have an existing condition that exercise can improve the management of. Physical activity could include, for example, walking or gardening.
Each of the following courses lasts for 12 weeks. Each course is held on a rolling basis, to enable each person referred by their GP to attend at any time and to avoid waiting until the start of a new course.
