Sleep like a Koala
Anxiety can cause me to wake in the early hours and not return to sleep. I can feel scared and unable to stop negative thought after negative thought. Physically I feel nauseous and have hot sweats…
I’m Kirsten, and I have been given a Koala blanket to trial. This is a therapeutic weighted duvet with a cover – one side is silky cool and the other is soft pile for colder nights.
It says on the website that the blanket is eco-friendly and durable and “it’s made from bamboo and cotton and took us 15 prototypes and hundreds of fabrics to get it perfect!” Wow. That’s impressive. And I think it was worth all that effort because they certainly seem to have got it right.
The first night I used the Koala blanket we still had warm summer weather so the cool side it was. I expected to get too warm but surprisingly felt comfortable.
I am now using the soft pile side as the temperature has definitely fallen. And it is so cosy!
It’s actually quite difficult to keep awake once you cover yourself with the weighted blanket. It makes me feel safe and secure. And I no longer wake in the early hours. I get a great night’s sleep with no disturbance.
Looking at the website, apparently the blanket uses deep touch technology to “calm the central nervous system to help stabilise your stress levels, increase relaxation and improve sleep.” Well, that certainly resonates with me!
The cover washes up lovely but takes a while to air dry. Make sure you follow the instructions to put it back on as it is much quicker than trying to do it your own way.
I’m looking forward to spending winter nights snuggled under my Koala blanket whilst watching a good film or doing some therapeutic crochet!
In summary, I haven’t had such a good night’s sleep for a long time! I would definitely recommend the Koala weighted blanket to help you sleep and/or to just feel warm and cosy!
