WALK FOR SAMARITANS THIS JUNE!
How about joining us for a summer’s day walk by the sea AND supporting a very worthwhile cause at the same time?
Walks for charity are not new, of course. Indeed, the annual Samaritans National Walk has been going for very many years.
The good news for Essex is that in 2017 the 38th Samaritans National Walk is coming to Mersea Island, south of Colchester, on Saturday 10th June.
Colchester Samaritans is now encouraging people living locally to join with volunteers, friends and family from all over the UK to help raise funds for Samaritans.
Clare Balding OBE, presenter of Radio 4’s popular “Ramblings” programme, has sent a message in support: “Good luck and good rambling to everyone on the Samaritans National Walk 2017. Well done in raising money for this excellent cause.”
How does it all work? Well, we’re offering a choice of two walks: a complete circuit of Mersea Island (that’s around 13 miles), or for hardier types, the same route plus a side trip by ferry to Brightlingsea for an additional 10 miles. We provide checkpoint refreshments from start to finish, and an evening Hog Roast and Real Ale party (vegetarian options) is included in the walk fee
Registration is £30 per person, or £25 per person for a team of six walkers. After covering the cost of staging the event, proceeds will go directly to help promote the work of Samaritans and continue the service to the people of North East Essex and beyond.

We look forward to seeing you in June!
