Essex Wildlife Trust, the largest conservation body in Essex, is 50 years old this year. Over that time they have achieved massive benefits for wildlife and for Essex. They now have the chance to recreate Living Landscapes on your doorstep in Essex but they need your help.
Their nature reserves were formed as a last stand for wildlife and they are working. They are at the forefront of much larger areas being restored in Essex called Living Landscapes. Because of urban renewal, because of agricultural change and because of changes in public opinion, there are great opportunities in Essex for new green spaces to be created and connected to the wildlife reservoirs which are our nature reserves. This will enable wild plants and animals to recolonise.
Living Landscape Areas will benefit wildlife and local people alike. Research shows that people with access to rich areas of green space are fitter, both physically and mentally – they tend to exercise and they have more opportunity to relax.
Help is needed :
to create new habitats for wildlife
to give local kids the chance to experience nature
to provide equipment to get practical tasks done on the ground
to engage with other landowners and work together to create a Living Landscape
