Perhaps it’s time to consider some of those superfoods you should be eating.
Of course, achieving good health and wellbeing isn’t about just one thing. You need to eat a wholesome diet, exercise, and ensure you get enough sleep – as well as dumping some of the habits you know really aren’t good for you.
But how to get started?
One of the best ways to ensure you feel fresh and healthy is to consume so-called superfoods that are nutritious and delicious. Even better, opt for locally produced food wherever you can for that extra burst of freshness. Once you get into the habit of eating produce you know is good for you, it’s so much easier to start taking the other steps you need to.

Blueberries
When considering superfoods, there’s no better place to start than the humble and much-loved blueberry. Rich in antioxidants and great for your health and immunity, blueberries taste great and add a gorgeous splash of colour to your meals.
You can also freeze them easily and keep a batch on hand throughout the year, so you don’t need to worry about seasonality. Use them in baking or throw some in your morning smoothie for an antioxidant boost like no other.
Avocados
There’s a reason why avo on toast is one of the most popular brunch options in the UK. As well as being creamy and delicious, avocados are a fantastic source of mono-saturated fat, which is excellent for your skin and known to keep you fuller for longer.
You can use avocados in lots of different ways, be it tossed through a salad or as a toast topping with lime and chilli. Just like blueberries, you can also freeze avocados if you’re worried about them going bad. This helps to bring down their cost a little, as you can buy them in batches and freeze them for use at a later date.
Asparagus
The standout thing about asparagus is that it is a natural diuretic. In other words, it helps you get rid of unwanted water retention in the body. This means asparagus is an excellent veggie to turn to when you’re undergoing detox, as it can also bring your salt levels under control. Asparagus also has a unique taste and texture, making it the ideal green to add to your weekly meal plan. Consider roasting them in a splash of low-fat oil and seasoning with some lemon before serving – it’s a taste sensation!
Garlic
Lots of people have a love-hate relationship with garlic. After all, too much garlic can be a little overpowering, and it doesn’t do great things for your breath!
In addition to keeping vampires away, garlic does an incredible job of fighting infections and viruses, making it a great food to add to your meals during the cold winter months, when viruses are more prevalent. The likes of kale, Swiss chard, and spinach are all classified as dark leafy greens, and they’re arguably the best veggies you can eat for your health and wellbeing. They contain high levels of folate, zinc, calcium, iron, magnesium, and fibre and reduce your risk of chronic illnesses. They also boast anti-inflammatory properties and protect you against certain cancers. In other words, if you don’t currently eat dark leafy greens, it’s time to add them to your fridge!

No – nothing naughty that will undo the good work you have already done. You could, for example, treat yourself to a stunning new dress to complement your transition to a healthier diet.
