This event is at the Shrub End Social Club is organised by the Colchester Local EWT Group. Gerald Lucy, author of the award-winning book “Essex Rock”, will give an illustrated talk on the geology of Essex, a story that stretches back over 100 million years with evidence for ancient volcanoes, deserts, glaciers and deep seas. Some rocks also contain remarkable fossils, from subtropical sharks and crocodiles to ice age hippos and mammoths.

Sheila Dearns, a Hedgehog Haven volunteer, will tell us about the life of hedgehogs, the dangers they face and a little bit about the important work of Hedgehog Haven. We will be also see some camera trap footage which will be informative and entertaining. Suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
