SE Essex Organic Gardeners’ monthly meeting will feature a Zoom presentation by Catherine Dawson, Technical Director, Melcourt Industries Ltd who will be looking at peat reduction in the industry.
Where has the UK growing media industry got to with peat reduction?
Catherine Dawson, who is Technical Director of Melcourt and a former chair of the Growing Media Association, will provide information about industry-wide, Defra-supported Responsible Sourcing of Growing Media Scheme, which is soon-to-launch. Melcourt will be used as an example to illustrate how peat-free growing is perfectly feasible across a wide range of growing applications together with information about how the uniformity and consistency – that is so essential – is achieved.
Catherine has worked with peat-free horticultural growing media/composts for more than three decades. In that time, she has developed with colleagues various award-winning peat-free growing media that are now sold throughout the UK to a wide range of professional growers and gardeners alike.
Catherine will start at 20:00, but you’ll be able to log in at 19:30
Suggested minimum donation: £2.00
