The Future of Our Food System
“Today we are publishing a package of material on food which covers important issues surrounding UK food security and sustainability: http://www.defra.gov.uk/foodrin/security/index.htmÂ
 Â
Delivering our aims – How you can be involved
We are inviting your views on the future of our food system through a new web forum, to help us shape the evolution of Britain’s food policy. Please have a look at our online discussion – ‘Food 2030’ – and take part in the debate. We want your feedback to help shape our food policy agenda, and to help us work out what we need to do to tackle some of the pressures, and maximise the opportunities, we are all faced with.
Our deadline for comments on all elements of the package is October 16th – either via email to foodpolicyunit@defra.gsi.gov.uk or through the ‘Food 2030’ online discussion. We invite you to visit the site on a regular basis to see how the conversation on the future of food is progressing.
Our aim is to produce a clear strategy later this year on what Government, Industry and consumers need to do to achieve our goals.
We have also recently revamped the Food and Drink pages on the Defra website and would welcome any feedback or suggestions on these: http://www.defra.gov.uk/foodrin/index.htm
Finally, you can view a short video of Hilary Benn speaking about this announcement on our website: http://www.defra.gov.uk/news/latest/2009/food-0810.htm“
