Writtle Gardens

10th June 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

One event on 23rd June 2019 at 12:00 pm

Three very interesting, colourful and contrasting gardens in the lovely village of Writtle with its delightful Norman church, village green and pond. The village dates back to pre-Roman times and was featured in the Doomsday Book.

No refreshments are available at these gardens, but there are a number of pubs and cafes in the village including the renowned Tiptree Tea Room in Lordship Road.

65 Ongar Road – Doug & Jean Pinkney

Be transported to tropical destinations with vibrant colour and ‘summer living’ features including BBQ, pizza oven, plunge pool, breeze hut and Easter Island statues.

40 St Johns Road – Catherine Eubanks

There are two key features to this garden: at the front, the focus is on encouraging wildlife, while to the rear a contrasting more modern garden with a lanscaped Italian feel featuring raised beds, gravel, lighting and two water features.

8 The Green – Andrea Johnson

This small wedge-shaped garden has a gently curving gravel path leading to a south-facing patio and summerhouse. Grass softens the hard landscaping. Borders which echo the curve of the path, are planted with varied perennials, shrubs and ornamental trees. Pots add height, textural interest and seasonal colour. The garden enjoys a colourful backdrop provided by mature trees in neighbouring gardens.
