An introduction to gene editing. what does it mean for gardeners and growers

An introduction to gene editing including what this means for gardeners and growers in terms of seeds, plant materials and contamination by Lawrence Woodward, OBE, Beyond GM.

This Zoom event organised by South East Essex Organic Gardeners (SEEOG) covers the following:

– briefly what gene editing is and the threat it poses to organic farming, growing and food, plus mentioning why some people think it might help with sustainability
– update on regulation status, field trials and the government’s undemocratic approach
– what this means for gardeners and growers in terms of seeds, plant materials and contamination
– and, if there is time, talk about how genome science is giving some insights into how wholistic systems may actually be working.
