Now that Camp Bling, in Southend, Essex, have successfully secured the cancellation of controversial Priory Crescent road widening scheme, plans are already underway as to what to do with the area.
The patch of land has already delivered a host of treasure, after excavations done by the Museum of London found the burial chamber of a Saxon King. Camp Bling opposed the widening of Priory Crescent road, since there was always the possibility that some valuable history could still be hidden underneath the ground.
According to the Southend Echo, the area will be landscaped and a memorial plaque will be placed on the piece of land indicating the importance of the site.  There’s also talk of a new museum being built on the Southend cliffs to play host to the items found in the dig – meaning that if the plans go ahead, Southend will be able to hold onto its historical objects for a little while longer!

I do hope this is the case Emily. I am trying to be positive, but remain sceptical, while the focus is now on the airport expansion and sale of West Wood I wonder if the council will still get their road scheme through the back door whilst we are not looking!!
