Thousands of patients across the UK are being prescribed statins and yet, despite sufficient medical evidence to show the severity of possible side effects being available from February 2008, even doctors are still not aware of the facts. The most common problems are depression and memory loss. With dementia becoming a major concern in the UK, it is possible that the very drugs doctors are prescribing for their patients for other conditions i.e. statins, are adding to the memory loss problem.
The delay in printing new information leaflets has, apparently, been caused by one of the drug companies failing to agree with the wording. In the meantime, the public’s wellbeing is being compromised. How can this be allowed to happen?
