The Children’s Food Campaign is highlighting the fact that most of our parks do not have enough drinking water fountains. We all know that fresh water is the best drink for all of us but, if nothing else is available, children in particular will resort to fizzy drinks to cool them down when they are hot and sweaty.
Over the next two months, the Children’s Food Campaign is trying to build a better picture of the current situation. If your park has lots of drinking water fountains in good condition, they would like you to take pictures and let them know. Conversley, if there are insufficient it is worth writing to the local councillors and asking if this is something they could consider. Letter templates are provided.
With the summer holidays looming, this could be a great project for children, either within the family or in groups such as cubs and brownies, to visit various parks and collate this information.

Over the next two months we are asking all our supporters to visit local parks in their area to complete a simple survey telling us what the situation is.

Thank you so much for our flagging up our campaign on your blog. Experts tell us that gettting fountains back in parks would be a relatively in expensive thing to do that could really help persuade kids to drink water when they are thirsty.
Please have a look at the link above for further information and do join in the activities to help persuade the politicians.
Thanks again Jill for the mention.
Please do get involved with our campaign – it would be fantastic to see free drinking water in all parks so that children can keep hydrated when they’re playing in their local parks.

We look forward to hearing from you!
