I ensure I use a toothpaste that does not contain fluoride because of health concerns, but now it looks as if I will be subjected to fluoridation whether I like it or not.
The Health Secretary Alan Johnson is apparently set to encourage fluoridation of tap water throughout the UK. While the British Dental Association insists it helps fight tooth decay, the National Pure Water Association says flouridation of tap water is an unwarranted interference into consumer rights. They claimed studies had linked the practice to brittle bone disease in the elderly and bone cancer in young boys. It can also cause fluorosis where teeth becaome pitted and stained – with no cure.
I personally do not believe medication should be forced upon us. Any comments?
